Velux

Integration of Velux motorized skylights into the TapHome system via the KLF 200 interface. Planning and accessories are key.

Overview

Velux offers motorized roof windows that use the io-homecontrol wireless protocol.

Integration

Velux KLF 200 Interface

  • Acts as a bridge between Velux RF control and TapHome using dry contacts.
  • Connect TapHome DO outputs to the KLF 200 inputs.
  • Supports up to 5 Velux devices.

Alternative accessories

  • KUX 110: 24V power/drive unit for operating Velux motors. For integration with TapHome, it must be combined with the KLF 200.
  • KLF 050: Enables control of a single window or blind using a dry contact.

Limitations

  • No two-way feedback to TapHome (only one-way control).
  • Velux wireless units often include their own controllers, which can limit integration if they are not considered during the planning phase.

Recommendations

  • New builds: Choose simple wired motors with end stops for direct control from TapHome.
  • Planning phase: Communicate early with the designer or electrician.
  • Wireless motors: Use the KLF 200 for integration.

Advanced control via Home Assistant is possible through the KLF 200 API interface but requires a custom implementation.
