Bus Extender not recognized by TapHome Core

Bus Extender connected via USB is not detected by the Core

Symptom

The Bus Extender module is connected to the TapHome Core via USB, but it is not recognized. The additional BUS ports provided by the Bus Extender do not appear in the system, and modules connected to it are not detected.

Cause

The TapHome Core is running an older Linux image version (below 2.9) that does not support the Bus Extender hardware. Support for Bus Extender was added in Linux image version 2.9.

Solution

Contact TapHome Support to update the Linux image on your Core to version 2.9 or higher.

  1. Go to SettingsMy location
  2. Contact TapHome Support and request a Linux image update
  3. TapHome Support will remotely update the Core’s Linux image
  4. After the update, the Bus Extender will be recognized

The Linux image update can only be performed by TapHome Support. This is different from regular firmware updates that can be done through the app.

How to Check Your Linux Image Version

  1. Go to SettingsMy location
  2. Open the Information section
  3. Look for OS Image Version (should be 2.9 or higher for Bus Extender support)
